Diesel Warming System

Eliminate Freeze Ups  -  Significant Fuel Savings

PowerRail Distribution is please to offer the NEW Diesel Warming System (DWS) manufactured by
Power Drives, Inc. is designed to heat and circulate water or coolant through a locomotive engine block and cooling system.
It will maintain a cooling system temperature of above 100°F even in the coldest of weather.

The heart of the system is a heater that burns fuel pumped from the locomotive fuel tank.  Featuring convenient electronic controls, the Diesel Warming System is available in a self-contained, self-powered model with a Kubota® Diesel engine, or as an electronic model which uses standard 120VAC from an external power source.

Easy to Use

The compact Diesel Warming System fits in more places than competitive products.  A self-contained DWS-APU model needs only cooling system connections and fuel and exhaust hookups to operate.

Built to last

Light, strong, modular frame and cage design protects the components, facilitates maintenance and features built-in vibration isolators.

Fuel Savings

Once up to temperature, the Diesel Warming System uses as little as .5 gallons of fuel per hour, saving you 2.5 to 6.5 gallons per hour compared to an idling locomotive - for example:

Environmental Savings

Get a dramatic reduction in exhaust emissions and eliminate the noise issues associated with idling locomotives.

Easier start-ups

Start your locomotive in cold weather while reducing engine wear and carbon build-up from engine idling.

Both models are versatile, easy-to-use solutions for reducing locomotive engine idling in any rail operation.  And, they're ready to go to work saving fuel, saving money and reducing emissions.

PowerStart DWS-120

The DWS-120 system circulates heated water or coolant with an electric water pump powered from a standard external 120 VAC source. Unlike other competitive units that require 3-phase, 60-amp power, the DWS-120 uses just 5 amps.
This eliminates any rewiring in or around the locomotive that some heaters require.

The DWS-120 features a modular frame and cage design that protects components,
and a compact size that fits more places.

DWS-APU

The self-contained DWS-APU circulates water or coolant with an electric water pump powered by an alternator that is driven by a small EPA certified onboard diesel engine.
An optional electric oil pump can be added to heat engine oil by circulating it through the block.
The modular frame and cage design of the DWS-APU protects components, and its compact size lets it fit in a variety of locations.
