2022 Human Resources Intern – Unpaid

All PowerRail internships are anticipated to run one semester in duration: schedules will be negotiated to the individual student’s needs.  Internships are on-site, unless otherwise noted. Please check with a faculty advisor prior to accepting and beginning the internship experience to determine if academic credit will be received.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create a benefit summary flyer, and other materials for recruiting use
  • Design a training tracking system for employees
  • Help create an effective company-wide intern program
  • Develop surveys for new employees, terminated employees and annual touchpoint surveys
  • Scan and file employee documentation, i.e., garnishments, PAF forms, benefit election forms, training records
  • Verify invoices for payment approval (all insurance carriers)
  • Prepare list of missing performance reviews, acknowledgements, etc.
  • Audit I-9 forms
  • Pull I-9/EEO forms when appropriate
Requirements for this Position:
  • A student who has completed core coursework toward an undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration (or similar), Psychology, Communications, etc. and has a passion for Human Resources
  • Proficient with MS Office desktop including advanced Excel skills
  • A strategic, analytical and creative thinker
  • A dynamic and innovative future leader
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • A high sense of urgency and strong work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Will be residing in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre vicinity for the semester

By the end of your internship, you will have:

  • Gained insight into what it is like to work at an international distributor and heavy industrial manufacturer
  • Worked directly with experienced Human Resources professionals on a challenging and meaningful project
  • Presented your findings and recommendations to the Leadership Team

2022 Financial Analyst Intern – Unpaid

All PowerRail internships are anticipated to run one semester in duration: schedules will be negotiated to the individual student’s needs.  Internships are on-site, unless otherwise noted. Please check with a faculty advisor prior to accepting and beginning the internship experience to determine if academic credit will be received.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Produce executive management reports on the consolidated business financial results and operational updates

  • Support monthly forecasting process and generate actual vs. budget status reports, explanation of variances, and forecasted expenses

  • Create financial models and profitability analyses, and provide other ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed to support business leadership

  • Participate in budgeting and financial planning processes (Spending Control, Overhead rates, etc.)

  • Assist in special projects such as inventory analysis, and planning and allocation of product

  • Draw charts and graphs, using computer spreadsheets, to illustrate technical reports

Required Skills for this Position:

  • Proficient with MS Office desktop including strong Excel skills

  • Ability to write and speak clearly and be able to communicate complex ideas into easily understood terms

  • Strong analytical skills: working with large amounts of data, including facts, figures, formulas and numbers

  • Strong communication skills: present their findings and translate the data into understandable documents or reports

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses a high sense of urgency and strong work ethic

2022 Sales Support Analyst Intern - Unpaid

All PowerRail internships are anticipated to run one semester in duration: schedules will be negotiated to the individual student’s needs. Internships are on-site, unless otherwise noted. Please check with a faculty advisor prior to accepting and beginning the internship experience to determine if academic credit will be received.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with a set of data to manipulate and organize it in a way to interpret and analyze the results
  • Turning data set into a format where the data can contribute to a sales strategy, either by product or market
  • Identifying patterns and trends in data sets
  • Preparing reports for the Sales team using business analytics reporting tools
  • Creating data dashboards, graphs, and visualizations
  • Supporting various sales colleagues to promote overall organization goals and sales growth
  • Providing market and competitor benchmarking
  • Updating pricing with Purchasing and vendors to maximize marginal profit in new markets and analyzes market trends for pricing
  • Calling and/or emailing vendors or checking Manufacturer/O.E.M. websites to inquire about part pricing and availability.

Required Skills for this Position:

  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets
  • Strong analytical skills: working with large amounts of data, including facts, figures, formulas and numbers
